Overview
Conflict is a fact of life. It is ever-present in organisations and unless a dictatorial management style prevails or groupthink prevails the conflict is not only expected but should be encouraged. The question then becomes how it is managed. Manage it with professionalism and competence and it can enhance the organisation, manage it poorly and it will escalate.
Some years ago Prime Minister Juha Sipilä was involved in conflict with the media and how they were reporting his business interests. There was an apparent conflict of interests when it came to one of his ministerial portfolios and the use of funds for state-run assets.
